    Dear Kelly,

My name is Mike and I’m a graduate student living near the corner of 21st and Charles. I hear that you are involved in neighborhood organizing in our area, and I was wondering if any steps are being taken to prepare our neighborhood for the coronavirus outbreak. As I’m sure you’re aware, it is important that we have some sort of mutual aid system in place in our neighborhood in order to know who is most vulnerable (e.g. elderly, has chronic illness, etc) and be able to assist them with various needs (e.g. grocery shopping, picking up medicines, sharing other resources, etc). I was thinking about starting an email list on my block to bring everyone in touch so that we can share information about our needs and availability to help others with particular needs. Especially if Baltimore faces a lock down situation, which seems increasingly likely in the coming 1-2 months, then we will need these systems in place beforehand in order to help each other through.

Please let me know what is currently being done to prepare in these ways. And if nothing significant is yet being done, then we must begin ASAP.

    All the best,

    Mike

    Good afternoon,

My name is Crystal Perry I am currently on the Baltimore City Women’s commission for Public safety. This encompasses human trafficking, Police misconduct and reentry to name a few things. I also work for TurnAround. I am looking to put together a night of healing for the women of Baltimore City. Where women who have dealt with any kind of trauma can learn about alternative healing methods such as art therapy, Dance, Meditation…. While also getting information on the different groups/ organizations helping women in Baltimore. I am looking at doing it sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas since the holidays are really hard on some people. I would like to do it on a Friday night from 6pm – 6am so we can reach as many women ( and anyone who identifies as a woman) as possible. I’m looking to do this in 21201 area and my colleague said you are the person to talk to. Do you know of anyone who would donate their space for something like this? Thank you so much for your time.
